Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day parade dates back to 1858, with the historic parade route placed along Lake Michigan. The grandstand is placed in front of Buckingham Fountain. The event aired on ABC 7 Chicago television.

Each year, people marvel at the ceremonial dying of the Chicago River. This tradition began in 1962, when members of the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union dumped 100 pounds of dye into the river. The following year, the plumbers took special care to create a vegetable-based dye that would not harm the water or marine life. The bright green shade lasts 24-48 hours before returning to the river's normal state.

The day following the parade, Wolfe and Windorski dedicated time to Reuse-a-Palooza in partnership with Reduce Waste Chicago. The duo volunteered to set up and greet community visitors at The Plant, a repurposed historic meat packing factory. The event provides opportunities to donate gently used books, bicycles, and more safely dispose tricky-to-recycle items and learn about strategies to avoid waste and improve environmental conditions.

Known as Beauties for a Cause®, Miss Earth® empowers women through community leadership, eco-tourism, and environmental education. Miss Earth is known as the planet’s most relevant beauty event, including nearly 100 countries each year attending international festivities.

Recognized as a charitable organization with 501(C)(3) tax exempt status, the pageant’s nonprofit B4ACUSA Foundation provides scholarships and grants to participants. Each of the state delegates conducts home state environmental projects and brings awareness to local issues and organizations.
